Bio
Sylvia met her friend, fellow stay-at-home mom Gina, when both were students at the University of South Carolina. Experiencing the joys and frustrations of family life together have helped them remain close, although Sylvia explains that it doesn't give her much opportunity to do things just for herself: "I love taking care of my children but it's a job that requires one to devote themselves totally to someone else." Sylvia has three children, Charlie, Allison, and Henry, and wanted to do the Race to provide a positive example for her family: "I wanted to show my children that they, too, can do anything they want in life, that their world doesn't have to have limitations." Like Gina, Sylvia was thrilled at the chance to skydive and enjoyed meeting the other teams.
