Sharon applied to be on The Amazing Race to experience the adventure of a lifetime, travel the world, and win a million dollars. Although she and her teammates/sisters, Michelle, Christine, and Tricia, didn't win the million, they did arrive first on the mat three times, including the first leg of Season 8, a moment Sharon characterizes as overwhelming and her best memory of the race.
The Godlewski sisters are perhaps best known for their matching pink shirts and their vocal reactions to events along the race. As Sharon herself said during the fourth leg, "Crazy women coming through!"
Describing herself as energetic, adventurous, and driven, Sharon tapped into her daredevil side during her favorite task, a 360-loop in a fighter plane in Mesa, Arizona. And, in addition to being driven, she was the most frequent team driver, a role she adopted naturally due to her experience as chauffeur for her son's activities.
Sharon enjoyed the TAR experience, particularly Costa Rica, although her favorite race destination of all seasons is Japan. She would absolutely run again, choosing her husband or son as a future partner. She states that what you learn about yourself can be life-changing and feels she has more patience and understanding of others as a result of the race. She did find it humbling to have her personal idiosyncrasies exposed and wishes that some of the great moments the Godlewski sisters experienced had been aired.
During her season, Sharon was particularly impressed by Tony and Marion Paolo, whom she describes as amusing for "dressing in their unmentionables on the mat and inspirational in their effort and resolve when tackling some very difficult tasks." The Godlewski sisters themselves were no strangers to wearing multiple layers of clothing to a non-elimination point, causing Phil to ask, "Did you know it was illegal in Panama to wear underpants on top of underpants on top of your pants?"
When not working as an insurance claims adjuster, Sharon likes to garden, work on house and decorating projects, and spend time with family and friends. She lives with her husband, son, and dog in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
