Meredith Smith
Bio
Meredith is retired and lives in Easton, MD with his Race partner and wife, Gretchen. He has three sons. Meredith spends his time fishing, biking, playing golf and teaching swimming. He holds seven National Masters Swimming Championship titles and describes himself as competitive, articulate and compassionate.
At ages sixty-six and sixty-nine, the Smiths were the oldest couple ever on the Race. Despite sleep deprivation, hunger, and the aches and pains of the Race, they finished in fourth place.
Meredith and Gretchen have had several corporate endorsements and speaking engagements but are glad to be back to their normal every-day retired activities. While their fame is starting to fade, Meredith believes the Race made them a stronger as a couple and he is grateful for the most exciting and fabulous adventure of a lifetime.
